Forum or Blog, Which Should I Go For?

#1

Post by Barryfrosh » Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:19 pm

Hello everyone, I have been thinking lately of starting something online and I am considering to create a blog or a forum. To be sincere, I don't know which one to go for between the two.
I need suggestions and advice on which one to choose in the following aspect.

1. Which is easier to set up

2. Cost of setting them up

3. Which is more profitable

4. How long do you think it will take me before I start making money on them

Thanks

From my own little experience, start a blog....forum is difficult to run.

It is way cheaper to open a blog, all you'll need to do is register your domain name and link it to a blogspot. You can get domain name for $0.99 (less than 350 naira) on godaddy

Both are profitable, but I think it is faster with blog.

You can send me a PM if you want me to help design your blog

From my one perspective, Forum is not easy to set up
Check forums like Early Guru, Nairaland, Nairaclan, Jackobian, JD trendz, they required a lot of coding to set up
Also the cost of setting up a forum, is more than that of blog.
3. Both are profitable.
4. Depends on you

Don't do forum ooo, before you see anybody to sign up.... Very hard

Blog is cheap to set up and you can quickly earn money from it.

Don't say I didn't tell you, it is difficult to succeed with forum. Best of luck

Forum is a long term project, it requires a longer time to grow. By the look of things, I know you won't be able to wait long. You will also need to have a little experience about coding to own a forum.

Blog is cheaper to run, within a short period you can start making money with it.

Running a forum isn't easy at all, it requires coding skills to create a well designed forum. but once you have succeeded in growing it, there won't be stress anymore. the forum will keep moving even when you're offline for one week.
while,
blog is very easy to start. with lot of free themes out there, one can create a well designed blog.
one week without update, your blog will look boring..

Blog is more easier to set up, you may not or won't need much knowledge of web design to get going.

For a start you I'll say the cost is the same, that's if you are going to get a domain name and hosting.
However, you can start both free, but it's advisable you invest a little on your site when you start.
Both are profitable - Forum is long term & Blog is short term (meaning for you to start getting returns from your investment on a forum it will take time while with a blog you can start getting something after some months)
